Reception Seating: Escort Cards vs. Place Cards

Once you have collected all of your response cards & RSVPs and finalized the seating arrangements for your reception, it’s time to design and produce your escort cards and/or place cards. What’s the difference you might ask? Your L’Auberge Wedding Team is here to clarify:

*Seating Tip: Brides typically choose to have open seating at assigned tables or 100% assigned seating, meaning the table and exact seat are chosen for each guest.

Escort Cards
Escort cards will be picked up by your guests during cocktail hour or as they make their way to dinner. The escort cards will be arranged in alphabetical order based on the guests last name and will indicate as to which table they will be eating dinner. If you have decided to have assigned tables with open seating your escort card might also indicate the guest’s meal selection.

Place Cards
Place cards are used if you decide to have 100% assigned seating and are used in addition to the escort card. The escort card will guide them to their assigned table and the place card will be set on their assigned seat at the table. The place card will show the guests name and indicate their meal selection (Note: meal selection indicator applied for plated dinners only. They are not necessary for stationed dinners.)
