Hotel Will Also Feature “Green” Dining, Drink and Spa Specials

L’Auberge Del Mar is celebrating Earth Day on Monday, April 22 with its first annual Ocean Preservation Paddle Out and a host of green-friendly specials throughout the hotel including the restaurant, bar, spa and guest rooms. 

“L’Auberge Del Mar is committed to lessening our footprint and supporting earth-friendly initiatives all year long,” said Vice President and Managing Director Michael Slosser. “Aside from our on-going recycling and energy saving programs, Earth Day offers a fun opportunity to showcase how we creatively integrate being ‘green’ into the guest experience.”

Included in this year’s earth-friendly specials and programs for guests are:

Ocean Preservation Paddle Out
L’Auberge Del Mar will host a morning paddle out on Earth Day, April 22, to raise awareness for ocean preservation. Guests, locals and employees are invited to participate in the first annual event. The concierge can arrange for board rentals for those who don’t have their own. Participants meet at Powerhouse Park at 9:00 a.m.

Roots, Leaves & Shoots at KITCHEN 1540
Executive Chef Scott Thomas Dolbee turned to Mother Earth’s fertile soil for his featured Earth Day entrée: Roots, Leaves & Shoots. This green-friendly, vegetarian dish features local, sustainable and seasonal ingredients including carrots, sunchokes, pea shoots, romanesco, cauliflower, morels and steel cut oats. The entrée is priced at $19 and will be available in KITCHEN 1540 on April 21 and 22.

Lavender Lemonade- A Green Cocktail
In the Living Room Bar, guests can savor ocean views while sipping the hotel’s eco-friendly Lovely Lavender Lemonade cocktail. This refreshing “green” concoction is made from organic lavender vodka, strawberries, mint and lemonade. In honor of Earth Day, the cocktail will be priced at $10 (normally $12) on April 21 and 22.

Ocean-Inspired Green Spa Special
Spa L’Auberge has channeled the power of the sea for its Earth Day spa special- the Soothing Seaweed Scrub. Inspired by the healing powers of the ocean, this treatment includes a purifying and detoxifying organic seaweed scrub followed by an organic remineralizing and nourishing laminaria oil massage. The 80-minute treatment will be offered at a special price of $165 (regularly $185) from April 20-22.

Green Lights The Way
On April 22, hotel guests will be provided with souvenir “green” LED flashlights to encourage guests to minimalize use of lights in their guest rooms. Lights will also be dimmed throughout the property to support Earth-Day energy savings.

Green Behind the Scenes
L’Auberge Del Mar is an active participant in Destination Hotels & Resort’s Destination Earth initiative, which seeks to promote environmental sustainability through green teams and hotel best-practices. A sampling of the eco-friendly practices at L’Auberge Del Mar includes energy efficient lighting, earth friendly kitchen equipment, recycled kitchen flooring, biodegradable “to go” boxes and donation of used oil for Biodiesel fuel conversion. The property also participates in the Clean the World program which sterilizes and recycles soap and shampoo and sends it to underprivileged countries.
