Romantic Del Mar Getaway!

What an amazing experience my wife and I recently had at L'Auberge Del Mar.

We arrived to the hotel early Saturday afternoon and immediately felt relaxed as the seasoned staff took over and guided us through the check-in process then walked us to the room. Wow! What an amazing view from our room... we recommend you upgrade to their 3rd floor interior rooms for the best ocean views. We treated ourselves to a few hours at Spa L'Auberge and got to spend time together in the co-ed relaxation garden at the Spa. On the walk back to our room we were drawn to the VERY hip Bleu Bar (pool bar) and enjoyed a couple of signature cocktails. When we eventually arrived back to our room, the hotel staff had sent Chocolate Dipped Strawberries and Champagne for our special day. We popped the cork, sat on our balcony and took in the view (see sunset image attached). While watching the surfers in the waves, we got to see a pod of dolphins swimming north up the coast, and a pod of whales heading south! We learned from the concierge that the whales migrate to Mexico this time of year to birth their calves.

This amazing evening finished with dinner at Kitchen 1540 in the private cabana on the patio. The food was amazing, and the service was exceptional (ask for Clyde)! Thanks L'Auberge for an amazing overnight retreat!

Romantic Weekend Getaway

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at L'Auberge Del Mar, looking for a relaxing night away from home. Upon arrival at valet, the staff was very welcoming. When we got to the Front Desk, they were extremely accommodating allowing us to check-in early. The staff offered great recommendations for activities on and around the property for us to spend some quality time together. We were already off to a fantastic weekend!

The Premier Deluxe room was more than we hoped for. Having stayed in numerous hotels, one of the key features we look for is quality bedding. We were captivated by the sheer comfort of L'Auberge's plush bedding; it was truly like we were sleeping on a cloud. Situated in a prime location of the resort, our balcony overlooked the courtyard where we could either people-watch or look at the beautiful ocean. We stayed at the hotel in February and given the year-round gorgeous weather in Del Mar, we were able to enjoy the outdoors all day!

Not only is L'Auberge a coastal property, but in order to cater to guests there is a private walkway to the beach surrounded by gorgeous landscaping; a great place to take pictures.

Our dining experience in Kitchen 1540 exceeded our expectations. When we walked into Kitchen 1540 the hostess sat us in a private cabana which captured the most romantic setting. We both started off with the farmhouse salad (was amazing!) and had the beef tenderloin for our entree. This was by far the best filet I have ever tasted; cooked to perfection, it melted in our mouth. As we were celebrating a late Valentine's Day, our server brought out a complimentary chocolate peanut butter dessert that was to die for! Our experience at Kitchen 1540 was absolutely amazing.

When on a weekend getaway, your experience starts from the moment you arrive at the hotel. We had exceptional service through all ends of the resort our entire stay. We could not have chosen a better hotel for a romantic, fun weekend.

L'Auberge is the premier coastal boutique property in Southern California!

Best Valentine's Dinner in Del Mar

This year for Valentine’s Day, my boyfriend and I enjoyed KITCHEN 1540’s Yours & Mine dinner for two! The atmosphere was fun and cozy with romantic lighting, yellow suede chairs and red accent décor. When we arrived we were greeted by hostess Stephanie who walked us to our table. After we were seated our waiter Clyde welcomed us as well and inquired about our beverage preferences before he recommended drinks for us. Overall, the service was excellent.  Every time a dish was brought out, different elements of the dish were described to us. It made you that much more excited to taste it!

As far as the food goes - it was definitely one of the most memorable Valentine’s meals I’ve ever eaten. The pre fixe menu offered a “Yours” option and a “Mine” option for the first four courses, which were followed by a dessert to share; I choose the Yours, so my boyfriend went with the Mine…

Love Wed Bliss

Before I became a Wedding Planner, most of my mornings consisted of a few cups of coffee and catching up on local news.  But the day I became the Director of Romance and All-Things-Weddings, that routine completely shifted.  Most morning you will now find me perusing the latest trends and "breaking news" on my favorite wedding blogs.  From cutting-edge cake designs to the ideal veil length, these blogs are overflowing with creative ideas and amazing information.  There was a recent weekend when I accomplished nothing because I got sucked into the fabulousness at Style Me Pretty and 100 Layer Cake.

With my obsession out in the open, I can admit that there is nothing more exciting than finding out that a real life L'Auberge wedding has been featured on a big-time wedding blog!  Getting the "you've been featured" email is like walking into your own surprise party: completely unexpected and makes your whole year.

Last week I received such an email informing me that the wedding of one of my favorite couples, Carly and Travis, has been featured on Love Wed Bliss.  This sweet and simple seaside ceremony was captured in all of its perfection by The Youngrens, so go check out the full feature and leave some L'Auberge love!

With all the amazing affairs we have planned for 2012, I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot more blog features soon....
