National Nutrition Month at L'Auberge Del Mar

March is National Nutrition Month and Destination Hotels & Resorts is celebrating in a big way by launching the annual Kids Healthy Recipe Contest which encourages consumers to submit their favorite healthy recipe that children enjoy eating.  The winning recipe will be featured on the company’s Kids Café healthy menu selections for a year, and the chef who submits the top entry also wins a trip for a family of four to any full-service Destination Hotels & Resorts property.  Now that's sweet...

Our very own Executive Chef Paul McCabe is supporting by pushing the fun into April, with the Cooks Confab School Lunch! Event.  On April 3rd, Chef Paul will be teaming up with other talented chefs in the area to serve up a healthy portion of School Lunch!  All proceeds benefit the Slow Food Urban San Diego's mission to promote awareness and the importance of good quality, farm fresh foods served to kids in San Diego schools and beyond.  Because it takes more than better ingredients to make a better school lunch...

Love from Guests

"If I could move in I would... I have a hard time trying to think of a hotel with a better location. The beauty of L'Auberge Del Mar is that it is a resort in a real town. You can walk out the front or the hotel and enjoy the shops and restaurants of the town.

The hotel itself reminds me Shutters on the Beach in it's original incarnation and without the attitude. The horseshoe shape always points you towards the ocean in the open spaces. The rooms are beautifully furnished. I can only say that I think they could invest in slight plusher beds and top of the line linens to go with the rest of the decor.

The public areas areas are absolutely stunning and the staff are wonderful. I placed a meeting here that would typically be too large for a hotel of this size but they handled it wonderfully. My attendees couldn't stop talking about how wonderful and friendly the staff were and that was my own experience.

It was pretty chilly in San Diego last week but all of the outdoor fireplaces and heaters allowed us to spend our evenings outdoors and still be comfortable.

The food in both the restaurant and at our events was outstanding.

I recommend this hotel without hesitation and I can't wait to go back."

1540 Eats: The Joseph Phelps Wine Dinner

Prepare yourselves wine lovers: Chef Paul is going all out with Joseph Phelps Vineyards at KITCHEN 1540 this March 15th.

First, we're serving up champagne and hors d'oeuvres on the patio.  Next, it's time for five courses of deliciously unique dishes paired with libations from Joseph Phelps Vineyards.  And, if you're familiar with a little wine called Insignia, you won't want to miss this pairing...holy bison.
