New Year’s Dinner at KITCHEN 1540

KITCHEN 1540’s Chef Scott Dolbee has created a celebratory New Year’s Eve menu perfect for ushering in the New Year. The creative four-course menu includes highlights such as Abalone with black kale, urchin and brown butter panna cotta, Cheek to Cheek featuring halibut, veal and mango chutney; and Champagne Ice Beet. For dessert, guests can delve into a luscious chocolate mouse or champagne and orange delight aptly called Mimosa. Each seating includes a champagne toast. The New Year’s Eve menu is offered from 5:30 to 11 p.m. Reservations are strongly recommended and can be made at 858-793-6460.

New Year’s Eve Celebration

L’Auberge Del Mar’s Living Room Bar will ring in 2013 with festive cocktails and killer tunes from popular DJ Gabe Vega. The celebration lasts until 1 a.m. and is open to the public. No fee for admittance.

Toast the New Year with L’Bling Bling

While a champagne toast at midnight is always a winner, guests looking for something really special to toast the New Year won’t be disappointed with the L’Bling Bling cocktail at L’Auberge Del Mar. The cocktail is an opulent play on the classic Sidecar and is made from the world’s finest Louis XIII cognac blended from eaux-de-vie that can be aged for up to 100 years. The drink also includes Grand Marnier Quintessence, another fine cognac blended with orange essence, as well as Cristal Simple Syrup made from Louis Roederer “Cristal” Champagne and sous-vide with sugar. The crowning touch is Opus One bitters, an aromatic bitters made from the amazing wine then aged with twelve other ingredients.

Christmas Dinner

Those still looking for special venue for dinner on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day can still make reservations at KITCHEN 1540. The restaurant is offering a festive menu inspired by the principals of sustainability and presented in Chef Scott Dolbee’s signature playful style. Classic holiday flavors combine with local, seasonal ingredients in a menu that is progressive, festive and inviting. Menu highlights include Chestnut Soup with crab apple, bacon and pumpkin; Wild Boar with black mole and white chocolate; and California Lamb with curried carrot, yogurt, mango chutney, tamarind, papadum and puffed rice. Offered from 6 to 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve and noon to 8 p.m. on Christmas Day. Reservations are strongly recommended and can be made at 858-793-6460.
