L’AUBERGE DEL MAR NEWS RELEASE

Noble House Hotels & Resorts Adds L’Auberge Del Mar To Growing Luxury, West Coast Portfolio

SEATTLE, WA (May 1, 2019) – Noble House Hotels & Resorts, Ltd., a hotel ownership and management group with an upscale portfolio of 20 distinct and visually captivating properties spanning the U.S., announced today that it will assume management of L’Auberge Del Mar, the stylish, coastal estate offering relaxed luxury located in the heart of the quaint beach village of Del Mar in San Diego’s North County.  The boutique resort, owned by Pebblebrook Hotel Trust, is the latest addition to Noble House Hotels & Resorts’ expansion of its roster of premier properties throughout the United States and Canada and is the second to be added in the last twelve months, including the recent opening of The Josie Hotel.  A property laden with history and engrained with its local community, L’Auberge is a natural fit for the private management company known for its expertise in managing independent luxury properties.

“We’re thrilled to begin working with L’Auberge Del Mar and celebrate the property as a special destination rich with history in Southern California,” said Pat Colee, Noble House founder and chairman of the board.  “The hotel has established a really strong connection with its local community over the past 30 years.  We look forward to continuing to build upon that and its reputation for delivering outstanding, memorable experiences.”

L’Auberge Del Mar is a luxury California beach resort resting on over five acres of gracefully landscaped grounds with a private pathway to the pristine beach of Del Mar.  The AAA Four Diamond award-winning resort offers guests the experience of an authentic Southern California lifestyle with an open-air living room, relaxed and stylish decor, destination-style activities and genuine, warm hospitality.  Overlooking the beautiful Pacific Coast, the resort offers 121 deluxe guestrooms including seven well-appointed suites, offering stunning property and coastal views.

The history of L’Auberge Del Mar ties deep down to its location, situated on the historic site of The Stratford Inn near San Diego.  Built in 1910, the Inn and later the Hotel Del Mar, was a hot spot for Hollywood celebrities looking for an escape as well as many Southern California locals.  The resort was the perfect getaway while visiting Bing Crosby and Pat O’Brien’s brand new Del Mar Fairgrounds and Racetrack. Celebrities such as Lucy and Desi Arnaz, and Jimmy Durante were often found roaming the beautiful grounds of the resort.  During World War II, the beachside hotel opened its doors to soldiers and their families, but post war saw the hotel fall into disrepair and it was eventually demolished in 1969.  In 1985, coinciding with Del Mar’s centennial, local resident, Jim Watkins, purchased the property and rebuilt the hotel.  In 1989, it re-opened its doors as the L’Auberge Del Mar.

Since 1989, L’Auberge Del Mar has undergone many changes including a $25 million renovation in 2008 and again in 2017.  L’Auberge Del Mar is the home to the original Opening Day After-Party, as well as many other community events throughout the year and remains to be the centerpiece of the Del Mar Village. Noble House, which focuses on creating destinations that emphasize location, distinction and soul, will continue evolving the property’s rich history and reputation within the community.

The resort is home to several acclaimed culinary experiences spotlighting local produce and sustainable seafood, each with their own list of awards from publications such as Wine Spectator, USA Today and Zagat.  KITCHEN 1540, the resort’s signature open-kitchen restaurant, focuses on locally-sourced ingredients that capture bright, seasonal tastes of the area.  Coastline Restaurant boasts amazing views of the Pacific Ocean while presenting guests with local favorites with a twist in a fun and casual atmosphere.  Bleu Bar is the perfect spot to soak in the vista and enjoy a beverage next to one of the cozy outdoor firepits.  The Living Room Bar is a popular gathering space for locals and visitors alike with live bands preforming on Friday and Saturday nights.

Spa L’Auberge, named by Condé Nast Traveler as one of the top 25 spas in the U.S., is the perfect combination of relaxation and renewal with a focus on the healing powers of the ocean.  Offering personalized treatments and luxurious services provided by highly trained professionals, Spa L’Auberge at L’Auberge Del Mar pampers guests from head to toe.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of L’Auberge Del Mar and the resort is commemorating the significant milestone with a series of pearl-themed events, packages and amenities.  To kick off the celebration, L’Auberge Del Mar is hosting a ribbon cutting event, followed by an open-house anniversary party on Friday, May 3 from 6:30 – 10 PM with craft cocktails, bites and live music on the Sunset Terrace.  Additionally, the Living Room Bar has created a Pearl ’89 Cocktail with Moet Chandon, Uncle Val’s Botanical Gin, Elderflower Tonic, Giffard Pamplemousse and Lemon Juice.  Spa L’Auberge has developed a Pearl Radiance Facial that will oxygenate, brighten and tone skin leaving an illuminating, effervescent pearly glow.  The celebratory Pearl Luxury Escape package includes luxurious overnight accommodations, $150 Spa L’Auberge credit, $150 dining credit, complimentary valet parking and L’Auberge Del Mar’s exclusive Signature Coastal Laurel scented sticks as a takeaway gift.  The Pearl Luxury Escape package is available to book now through December 31, 2019 and starts at $465 per night.  To reserve, please call (800) 245-9757 or visit www.laubergedelmar.com, the property’s new web address as of today, May 1, 2019.
