Paddle the Cove
Take a guided kayak tour of La Jolla’s marine ecological reserve, home to five distinct marine environments in less than two square miles. With a variety of views, this is an unparalleled experience.
Balboa Park is the cultural heart of San Diego, a 1,200 acre wonderland with fifteen museums, eight gardens, and the world-famous San Diego Zoo. Often referred to as the “Smithsonian of the West,” it is the largest urban park in North America, exceeding even New York’s Central Park in size. It will take more than one day to see and enjoy it all.
Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and Fairgrounds
Del Mar is known for its racetrack, “Where the Turf Meets the Surf,” and ever-popular thoroughbred-racing season from mid-July through early September, plus a fall season in November. In June, the Fairgrounds are home to the San Diego County Fair.
Encinitas Tide Pools
The tide pools at Swami’s Beach are an extensive reef formation which becomes visible as the tide recedes. The tide pools are a popular destination for children and families.
Located in Carlsbad about 20 minutes northeast of the hotel, Legoland® California is an interactive, hands-on theme park for families, with more than 60 rides, shows, and attractions. It is also home to SEA LIFE Aquarium and the world’s first LEGOLAND Water Park.
San Diego Botanic Garden

San Diego Polo Fields
Founded in 1986, The San Diego Polo Club is beautifully situated on 60 acres of land in neighboring Rancho Santa Fe, offering five world-class class polo fields. The San Diego Polo Club has one of the longest playing seasons in the country, running from May through October. Polo matches are presented to the public every Sunday, beginning at 1:00 pm.
San Diego Safari Park
The Safari Park is a wildlife sanctuary for more than 2,600 animals representing more than 300 species. Its botanical collection represents 3,500 species and 1.5 million specimens. Over half of the Park’s 1,800 acres have been set aside as protected native species habitat. It is located 30 miles north of downtown San Diego, near Escondido.
San Diego Zoo
The 100-acre San Diego Zoo is home to over 3,700 rare and endangered animals representing more than 650 species and subspecies, and a prominent botanical collection with more than 700,000 exotic plants.
